Five big reasons to support the recounts, with one criticism and one suggestion

GPUS Media Coordinator Scott McLarty

by Scott McLarty

(1) Greens have an interest in defending election integrity, especially as an independent alternative party that faces unfair rules and practices like anti-democratic ballot-access laws in many states and exclusion from debates.

The Green Party is an independent political party that has no connection with the Democratic or Republican parties, but it's not so independent that it has no stake in the integrity of elections in which Green candidates participate.

Jill Stein Green Party recount campaign explained

By Don Ellis

Our effort to recount votes in those states is not intended to help Hillary Clinton. - Jill Stein

Jill Stein and the Green Party are finally getting extensive coverage from the mainstream media, due to the Stein/Baraka Green Party Campaign's efforts in raising money to finance a recount of Presidential votes in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

The question many members of the Green Party keep asking is "Why is she doing this? All she can do is help Hillary get elected."

If you think that all this recount can do is get Hillary elected, you are being incredibly naive. There are several ways in which this recount effort will help the Green Party - but before covering those, I should point out that the one thing this recount won't do is get Hillary elected.

The Green Party of Pennsylvania declares victory in the general election

The Green Party of Pennsylvania's status is elevated from Political Body to Minor Party as a result of the General Election. Row Office candidates Kristin Combs, Treasurer and John J Sweeney, Auditor General, reached 3% of the vote total in their respective races.

This will place the Green Party option on voter registration forms and allow the Green Party of Pennsylvania to place a candidate on the ballot in the event of a special election.

"We entered this race with a very specific goal: win 2% to make sure we start 2017 in the best position possible," said State Treasurer candidate Kristin Combs. "Thanks to Pennsylvania voters, we not only met our goal; we nearly doubled it. I can't wait to get working on the next round of local elections."

"At least 165,000 people voted Green. That is the largest vote total the Green Party has ever achieved in Pennsylvania," said Auditor General candidate John J Sweeney. "I was shocked when I discovered it exceeds Ralph Nader's 2000 total by over 60,000. That is 60% more than Nader's 103,392 votes."

The Green Party of Pennsylvania is independent political party that stands in opposition to the two corporate parties. The Green Party of Pennsylvania stands for grassroots democracy, social justice, nonviolence, and ecology.

Stein/Baraka Campaign calls for immediate resistance to Trump and the failed Two-Party System

The Stein/Baraka campaign calls for sustained and organized resistance to president-elect Donald Trump and the rise of right-wing extremism in the United States. They expressed their solidarity and empathy with those who are traumatized by the election results, and called for an honest and sober reckoning of the collusion between the political establishment and corporate media that led to Donald Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton.

"A New York Times poll reveals that 82% of Americans are literally ‘disgusted’ by this election," said Dr. Jill Stein, Green Party presidential candidate. “This election is a reaction to what voters see as a toxic and corrupt political establishment and represents a wholesale rejection of it. The Democratic National Committee (DNC) sabotaged Bernie Sanders, who by all accounts would have easily trounced Donald Trump. Because of Wikileaks, we also know that the DNC actively colluded with corporate media to elevate Donald Trump as a ‘Pied Piper Candidate’ to encourage the most extreme elements of the Republican party,” she said.

Jill Stein files FEC complaint against Trump, Clinton for illegal Super PAC coordination

Today, Monday November 7th, Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein filed a complaint at the Federal Election Commission in Washington, DC, against both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton for illegal coordination with their Super PACs.

Under current FEC regulations, Super PACs, known technically as “independent expenditure-only committees” and colloquially as “dark-money groups,” may raise unlimited sums of money from corporations, unions, and individuals, but are not permitted to contribute to or coordinate directly with parties or candidates. Such coordination would be functionally equivalent to an in-kind donation to the campaign from these dark-money groups.

Stein’s complaint outlined a body of evidence indicating that the Clinton campaign has illegally coordinated activities with Super PACs such as Correct the Record, Priorities USA Action, and American Bridge 21st Century, while the Trump campaign has improperly coordinated activities with Super PACs such as Rebuilding America Now, Make America Number 1, and Great America PAC.
