Continuing the revolution under Dr. Jill

by Ashley Davis

Just over a month ago, we were gearing up to march our movement into Philly, with the president of the people leading the way. Leaders can always walk into a room and command an audience, but what Bernie Sanders did was give millions of young and old alike the courage to stand up ourselves and say, ‘Yeah, ya know we don’t like that. It’s not right, and we’re gonna fix it – together’. That is the fire we held. There was no talk of incremental change or the lesser of two evils. We don’t have time for that. In the words of the inspiring Nina Turner, “The cause is right, and the time is now”.

Millions of us are listening to a man who has gone back on his word. Sanders told us repeatedly, “We’re not a movement where I can snap my fingers and tell you or anybody else what they should do, because you won’t listen to me. You shouldn’t. Alright, you make these decisions yourself” (MSNBC Town Hall, 4/25/16).

Taking on the establishment is opening Pandora’s box, and we have to be willing to stand together in unity when the attacks come. A month ago no one was settling on Clinton or Trump, and we damn well shouldn’t be now. We are at a crucial time in our country’s existence. Our actions, or lack thereof, will have significant effects on generations to come. We don’t have 8 more years of failed criminal, economic, or social justice. We don’t have 8 years to sit around while we frack flames into every faucet in America.

When the DNC colluded to coronate Clinton they didn’t only step on Bernie, they wasted $222 million dollars donated by the American public, and thousands of hours of campaigning from enlightened people all across our beautiful home. They showed us our votes didn’t matter. Here we are ‘defenders of the free world, protectors of democracy’, and they rigged an election. Our reply is to stand behind a candidate we didn’t want? So we can defeat another candidate that most don’t want?

When the time came for Bernie to fight the DNC… be it he couldn’t, or wouldn’t - he didn’t. By endorsing Clinton he tore our revolution apart, and we now have people going every direction. That is exactly what the establishment needed to do in order to maintain the status quo. They had to cut our head off. America is sick, and we need a doctor.

Supporters are currently working to get Dr. Jill Stein on the ballot in all 50 states and a petition is circulating to get her and Gary Johnson into the debates with the two major party nominees. It’s imperative to a healthy democracy (even a constitutional republic) that the voters know their options. Especially at a time when so many are dissatisfied. Jill Stein fought the DNC in 2012 when she protested to be allowed in the debates and was arrested. She'll be there again this year, fighting to be heard.

Many of our guiding lights decided to retreat to the dark side, but don’t give up. We still have two and half months before the general election, guys. We can do this! The man may change, but the movement remains.
